MimiDirect operates as a direct hire facilitation platform only. We are not a licensed employment agency under the Employment Agencies Act (Cap 92A) of Singapore and do not act as an agent, recruiter, or intermediary in any employment relationship. The employer and FDW contract directly with each other.

1. The Service

MimiDirect (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides an online platform that allows:

  • Employers (Singapore residents and permanent residents) to browse profiles of foreign domestic workers (FDWs) available for direct hire or self-arranged transfer
  • Helpers to be listed on the Platform so prospective employers can contact them directly

We facilitate introductions only. We are not party to any employment agreement between an employer and a helper.

2. Platform Role vs. Licensed Agency

Under the Employment Agencies Act (Cap 92A), a licensed employment agency actively recruits, places, or procures employment for workers in exchange for fees. MimiDirect does not carry out these activities. Specifically:

  • We do not charge placement fees to employers for connecting with a helper
  • We do not negotiate or execute employment contracts on behalf of either party
  • We do not conduct interviews or background checks as an agency would
  • We do not hold any MOM employment agency licence

If you require licensed employment agency services, you should engage a MOM-licensed agency directly.

3. Placement Loan Disclosure

Some helpers listed on MimiDirect may have an outstanding placement loan owed to MimiDirect or an associated party. This loan represents the cost of travel, documentation, and pre-departure processing borne on behalf of the helper. Key terms:

  • The placement loan is an arrangement between MimiDirect and the helper — not the employer
  • Loan repayment is deducted from the helper's monthly salary over an agreed period, with the helper's full knowledge and written consent
  • The deduction schedule and total amount will be disclosed clearly to both parties before any hire is confirmed
  • Employers are not responsible for the loan but must be aware of the deductions when agreeing on net take-home salary with the helper
  • All deduction arrangements comply with MOM's guidelines on permissible salary deductions for FDWs

4. No Employment Guarantee

MimiDirect does not guarantee that:

  • Any employer will successfully hire a helper from the Platform
  • Any helper profile listed is currently available or eligible for hire
  • MOM will approve any Work Permit application
  • The employment relationship will be successful or long-lasting

All hiring decisions are made solely at the discretion of the employer and helper.

5. Employer Obligations Under MOM

Employers who hire an FDW through this Platform remain fully and independently responsible for all MOM obligations, including:

  • Applying for the FDW's Work Permit via the MOM Work Permit Online portal
  • Ensuring the FDW attends the mandatory Settling-In Programme (SIP) before commencing work
  • Purchasing mandatory personal accident insurance (minimum S$60,000 coverage) and medical insurance (minimum S$15,000 per year)
  • Posting the security bond (S$5,000 for non-Malaysian FDWs)
  • Paying the monthly FDW levy as required by MOM
  • Complying with rest day, accommodation, and salary payment requirements
  • Ensuring the FDW undergoes the required medical examination within the first month of employment

6. Helper Profile Accuracy

Helper profiles on MimiDirect are provided in good faith based on information supplied by the helpers or their representatives. MimiDirect does not independently verify every detail. Employers should conduct their own due diligence, including direct interviews, before confirming a hire.

7. Fees

Browsing helper profiles on MimiDirect is free for employers. We do not charge placement fees to employers. Any coordinator or processing fees, if applicable, will be disclosed clearly before any commitment is made.

8. Termination of Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Platform if you breach these Terms of Service or engage in any conduct that we deem harmful to other users or to the reputation of the Platform.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold MimiDirect harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the Platform, your breach of these terms, or any employment dispute between you and an FDW connected through the Platform.

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by Singapore law. Any disputes shall be referred to the courts of Singapore.
